Skylanders: Cloud Patrol, an app for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users, is the latest way for kids to connect with the toy-enabled gaming brand Skylanders.

The 69p app joins last year's hugely successful multi-platform console game and the online virtual world Skylanders: Spyro's Universe.

“Skylanders is already a huge success both on consoles and the web with Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure and Skylanders Spyro’s Universe and we are excited to bring the franchise to the mobile platform,” said John Coyne, vice president, consumer marketing.

“Now with Cloud Patrol, fans have a brand new way to interact with their favourite Skylanders’ characters on the go and in a new fun form of gameplay.”

Skylanders Cloud Patrol lets players unlock Skylanders and Magic Items in Cloud Patrol using the codes bundled with each Skylanders figurine. Players can also purchase in-game currency to build their virtual mobile Skylanders collection, 'Magic Items', and more.

Skylanders characters can be unlocked in the app using codes found in figurine packs.

Cloud Patrol includes over 30 Skylanders to unlock and takes place in a new region of Skylands which has been overrun by the evil minions of the portal master Kaos. Kids use touch-screen gestures to tap and shoot or swipe to defeat enemies.
