Skylanders 'cards-to-life' title to hit UK shelves this week

Activision's 'cards-to-life' concept, Skylanders Battlecast, is hitting UK stores this Friday.

Based on the Skylanders videogame series, Skylanders Battlecast blends free-to-play mobile gameplay with a physical card game.

Players can download the game from today, while physical card packs will be available for purchase from this Friday, May 27th.

Alongside playing the digital game, players scan their physical cards with their mobile devices to watch cards spring to life through augmented reality. The game also allows players to add cards to an in-game digital spell book. By collecting more cards, players will have more pieces to customise their deck for battle.

“We continue to provide a variety of fun new ways for fans to explore Skylanders and Skylanders Battlecast is an amazing new innovation,” said Josh Taub, senior vice president, product management, Activision Publishing.

“Our mobile card game offers players not only a collectible experience but also augmented reality, PvP and an exciting single-player campaign.”

Skylanders Battlecast is available from today via the App Store, Google Play and the Amazon Appstore.

Skylanders Battlecast Battle packs featuring 22 cards will be available from Friday, as well as the Skylanders Booster pack, which will include a random selection of eight cards.
