After a blockbusting Kickstarter campaign that sailed past the $3.7m, the Dark Souls board game is prepping for release on May 5th with early copies being sent out to media outlets.

The game is based on the popular fantasy video game franchise, notorious for its punishing difficulty and challenging lore. The Kickstarter campaign began with a goal of $500, 000, a goal which it sailed past within the campaign's opening minutes eventually reaching the $3 million mark.

Developed by Steamforged games, Dark Souls: The Board Game will hit store shelves on May 5th starting at $135 (£105).
