The team behind Anki Overdrive has unveiled a new programmable robot toy that will ‘define the future of play.’

Called Cozmo, the robot has been heralded as ‘one of the most sophisticated robots available today’ and a ‘major leap in the future of play at the intersection of film, toys, video games and robotics.’

Powered by advanced robotics, artificial intelligence and computer vision, Cozmo boasts the ability to process data to display emotions as it engages in numerous games and activities.

‘Cozmo is constantly scanning his environment and recognises people while reacting to emotions,’ read a statement from Anki.

‘His eyes light up when he sees a familiar face. If you haven’t played with him in a while, he’ll nudge you to play one of a handful of games. If you beat him, he might sulk.

'Developed by a multidisciplinary team of PhD roboticists, world-class animators, renowned game developers, and a lead designer of the Batmobile, Cozmo represents a major leap forward in the future of play at the intersection of film, toys, videogames, and robotics.'

To play with this ‘supercomputer on treads’ all a user needs is a compatable iOS or Android device.

Shipping to the US this October, Cozmo is available to pre-order from Anki.com and will be available for $179.99.
