Wal-Mart recalls 174,000 dolls over burn risk

Retailer has received 12 reports of incidents including two burns and a blister due to circuit board overheating.

US retailer Wal-Mart is recalling thousands of dolls following reports that the toy has caused burns and blisters.

174,000 My Sweet Love / My Sweet Baby Cuddle Care Baby Doll have been deemed as unsafe due to a circuit board in its chest overheating and burning.

So far Wal-Mart has received 12 reports of incidents, including two burns and a blister due to the doll manufactured by the Chinese firm Tak Ngai Electronic Toys Co, overheating.

The vendor is urging consumers to take the My Sweet Love / My Sweet baby Cuddle Care Baby Doll from children, remove the batteries and return to any Walmart store for a full refund.

The doll line was sold exclusively through the retailer from 2012 through to 2014 and was sold for $20.
