Toys among fastest-growing online sectors

And online toy retail is set to grow by the same amount going into 2013, claims report.

Toys are among the fastest-growing products purchased online, according to research from parcel company DPD.

The number of shoppers who said they bought toys and games online over the past 12 months rose by 28 per cent – almost one third.

And 32 per cent more consumers year-on-year said they would consider buying toys and games online over the next 12 months.

DPD's CEO Dwain McDonald said: “Online shopping has rapidly grown to become a mainstream retail channel in the UK. Over the last few years an increasing number of people have switched on to the convenience of shopping from home and, thanks to the internet it has never been easier to research and compare a wide range of products from different retailers to find the best deal."
