Toymaster has unveiled its own top Christmas toys list.

Rather than limiting itself to ten (or five, or 12, or 15) toys, Toymaster has chosen to highlight the top toys and brands in key categories.

The top brands for girls are Barbie, Lalaloopsy, Monster High and Moshi, while top boys predictions are Ben 10, Nerf, Skylanders, Trashies and WWE.

Toymaster's pre-school picks are Jake and the Neverland Pirates and Mike the Knight.

Lego has been highlighted as a "must have". Paul Reader wrote: "Without a doubt the must have range this Christmas has to be Lego with Lego City, Lego Friends, Ninjago and Super Heroes are all very popular and more than likely will be a feature on many children’s Christmas list."

The chosen educational and learning lines were the LeapFrog LeapPad 2 and VTech's InnoTab 2.

In wheeled toys, Reader suggested scooters.

For board games, Reader said: "For fun for all the Family, board games such as The Chase and the timeless classics Monopoly, Pictionary and Scrabble still prove to be a popular choice."

He added: "If you are stuck for stocking fillers little collectables such as Lego Mini figures and Moshi Monsters would be an excellent choice.

"If you want something a bit more soft and cuddly then Pillow Pets are the one for you."
