Toymaster is appealing to its members to help independent toy store, Toy Shop Cockermouth recover trading following the recent floods in Cumbria.

Just one of the many places affected by the impact of Storm Desmond, floods swept across Cumbria over the last few days, leaving an estimated 42,000 homes without power.

Of those affected by the flooding is local Cumbrian toy retailer and Toymaster member, Toy Shop Cockermouth, who, following the deluge, has been left with damaged stock.

Toymaster’s managing director, Ian Edmunds is now appealing to members to help the shop return to normal trading by sending a carton or more of stock to them free of charge.

This is the second time Toy Shop Cockermouth owners Jonty and Fiona have survived the trials of flooding, having gone through similar events during Cumbria’s 2009 flood.

“Jonty and Fiona are not asking for your help, I am,” said Edmunds in a statement. “If you can help by sending a carton or more of stock to them free of charge, it will allow them to get trading again quickly at this key time, and obviously assist on the financial front.

“It is my belief that charity should begin at home and this (in toy trade terms) is a more than worthwhile cause and all help will, I am sure, be greatly received.”

For those wishing to make a donation to help Toy Shop Cockermouth regain trading ahead of Christmas, Toymaster is urging products be sent to the below address:
