The Toymaster May show begins today in The Majestic hotel in Harrogate and runs for three days, finishing on Thursday May 24th.

ToyNews chatted to a number of key names in the industry about the show and what makes it a key date on the calendar and we received an overwhelmingly positive response.

Martin Grossman, MD of H.Grossman

“It is a great meeting place where you can do business and socialise with customers without the pressures of the larger trade shows.”

Sarah Winter, Sales Manager, Green Board Games

“My favourite thing is that the suppliers and members are encouraged to socialise together, that and the fancy dress which is always a giggle. The Orchard Toy boys as the pink ladies was a firm favourite.”

Andrew Welch, Bandai
'Looking forward to meeting the Toymaster members and giving the latest updates on our new 2012 product ranges since Toy Fair.'

Simon Burton, Sales Manager - Marbel
“The Toymaster Show has always proven to be a successful show for Marbel. Being a dynamic and forward thinking distributor, we are always adding great new brands to our portfolio, this year, with Toymaster members in mind, we have added brands such as nanoblocks, Ein-O Science, Phlat Ball and new BRIO products. We feel we now have a really strong range suitable for Toymaster members."

Gary Wyatt, chairman, Green Board Games
“It’s the community feeling. There are no closed stands, everyone has the same space and business is done in an open and transparent way. Plus Harrogate is lovely and the “dad dancing” in the evening a sight to behold.”

Laura Bull, Marketing Manager, Schleich

“My favourite thing about the Toymaster Show is the atmosphere, Toymaster work really hard on making it a successful event to attend from a sales perspective but they also focus on the fun side too.”

Heather Corbett, Marketing Manager, UK & Europe, Innovation First International.

“My favourite thing about Toymaster is the relaxed, yet focused atmosphere. I especially appreciate having the opportunity to meet with independents one-on-one to hear how the ranges are selling and learn how we can support them even more.”

Ross McDonald, Sales Director at Drumond Park "
We’re pleased to continue our support of the event. Again, it will be a great opportunity to meet with Toymaster members and showcase our 2012 range, and tell them about our TV advertising and promotional plans. It’s an excellent location as well, even though it’s on the far side of the side of the Pennines.”

Sarah Greensall, Jumbo Games, National Accounts Manager

“The great thing about the Toymaster show is the fantastic atmosphere that is generated over the course of the week. There is a fantastic turn out every year and everyone is in good spirit which is great when your meeting new and familiar faces. This fantastic mix is shown on everyone’s faces and is great to see in the independent market”

Jacqueline Taylor-Foo, Sales Director, Spin Master
“The Toymaster Show is a great place to share our Autumn Winter plans and offer some exceptional launch packages for our key independent members.”

Luke Hillier, sales and marketing director, Click Distribution
“Getting to see all of our Toymaster customers face to face, it’s always nice putting a face to a name.”

Iain Morgan, MD, Bladez Toyz
''The Toymaster show is great way to meet a large number of very important retailers in the one place, Bladez missed the deadline last year, however we made the extra effort to meet the members by hiring a room at the St Georges Hotel and set up our own Bladez showroom. We made sure the booking was in early this year, I think we may have been one of the first to book. We look forward to the show as the location is great and the retailers are an integral part of our business.''

Sam Ireland, Operations Manager, Bigjigs Toys
"My favourite thing about Toymaster is the intimate nature of the event, it really allows us to converse with our retailers on a more personal level and get to know them better.”

Paul Dean, Senior Manager, Sales, Mattel

"The show is a great way for us to catch up with all the Toymaster members and showcase our fantastic range of products."

Megan Cadd, Sales & Marketing Assistant, DKL

‘One of the best things about the Toymaster Show is the atmosphere. Everyone is always in great spirits & I enjoy meeting up with our smaller, independent customers’."

Noel Doran, Territory Manager Eire & Northern Ireland, Padgett Bros A-Z
“My best bit is meeting the members face to face.”

Sarah Davies, Senior Brand Manager, Pre-school, Tomy
“Tomy has attended Toymaster shows for many years. Independent retailers are key to our business as they offer a wider selection of our ranges and have such knowledgeable staff. It's always great to meet with so many Toymaster members in one location and to be able to showcase our ranges and marketing initiatives.“

Peter Burcham, National Sales Manager Hasbro UK
“My favourite thing about the Toymaster Show is the amount of stores that make the effort to attend.”

Nadim Ednan-Laperouse, MD of WOW Toys

“There are lots of fabulous things about the Toymaster show. It is a real ‘interaction with your customers’ type of show and gets results.”
