John Lewis unveiled its much-anticipated Christmas advert today, where a telescope was the focus for the festive campaign.

Minutes after the retailer dropped the ad, its Man on the Moon Make Your Own Telescope Kit sold out online.

Priced at £8 it’s no wonder the device has sold out, however the Celestron AstroMaster LT 60AZ, which was featured in the ad, which was previously out of stock, is now available again for £99.95.

Once again, the stars of the ad, which features an elderly man who lives on the moon and a little girl named Lily, have already started to melt the hearts of viewers.

Similarly, last year when the retailer debuted its Christmas ad with Monty and Mable the penguins, John Lewis witnessed huge sales that resulted in the much-loved plush toys selling out, despite their £95 price tag.

Other telescopes are also available for customers to snap up this Christmas, including the Celestron TravelScope C21035, which is slightly cheaper at £79.95.

John Lewis is also putting the pyjamas that Lily is wearing in the ad on offer, while a bag showcasing the telescope making its way to the Moon is also available.

At least John Lewis has managed to replenish its stock levels this year, since the pricier versions of the telescope have been updated with new stock levels.
