Award winning toy giant, The Entertainer has partnered with a budding toy inventor to offer his range of marble-like collectables a trial run in stores across the UK.

Bomtanka is a collection of mix and matchable sphere characters which can be pulled apart and fixed together to create up to 100 different personalities.

Featuring characters such as Evil Orange Eye, Dazzling Darcy and Shark Tooth, the collection has already kicked off its trial run with the retailer, having entered all 90 of its stores nationwide.

Owner and CEO of The Entertainer, Gary Grant picked up the line of characters that also come with their own stats cards and mobile app game early last month on a ‘see how it goes basis.’

Retailing at £1.99, the range will now remain in store until they sell out, at which point discussions will be held over whether to continue the partnership.

Bomtanka creator and founder of Lardy Cat Ltd. John Cattermole is delighted with the opportunity to get the range in to shops and in front of children.

“I am very excited about this initiative,” Cattermole told ToyNews. “The trial period is on a ‘see how it goes basis’ and I hope this will be a runaway success.

“It would be great to continue this David and Goliath approach to making Bomtanka a success, but I have not dismissed the idea of working with a licensed manufacturer.”

The inventor however won’t be resting on his laurels and is now actively working to market the range himself with in-school initiatives and is weighing up plans for campaigns in children’s media.

“There are two routes now open to Bomtanka, the obvious one being the commercial route,” said Cattermole.

“The second route is to use the toy as an educational tool in schools to show how new product introduction works.”
