Independent toy chain The Entertainer has been named the Growth Retailer of the Year at the 2014 Oracle Retail Week Awards.

The retailer picked up the award – Zolfo Cooper Growth Retailer of the Year- at the annual awards event held at the Grosvenor Hotel in Park Lane on Thursday, March 13th.

The chain was championed for its strong growth throughout 2013, which includes the opening of 14 new stores across the UK and its international expansion with the opening of its first store in Dubai.

“We really weren’t expecting to win, having looked at the list of other retailers on the list,” said Ashley Major, The Entertainer's finance director.

“We have been established for a long time, so in some ways our growth is more difficult to be that impressive. But. It’s a good feeling.”
