The Entertainer has reconsidered its expansion plans after seeing its sales rise 12.3 per cent in the second quarter 2012.
The retailer will now open 15 stores this year – three more than the 12 it had originally planned. The family owned independent chain currently has 69 stores nationwide.
It’s the sixth quarter of consecutive growth for The Entertainer, and follows double digit sales growth achieved in the first quarter.
In the six months leading to August 11th 2012, The Entertainer’s like-for-like sales were up 7.9 per cent in-stores. Taking into account the new stores which have opened in the past 12 months, like-for-like sales are up 31.7 per cent.
The good news story continues, with a new website set to launch in time for Christmas. The site will include a 30 minute click and collect service, and a 90 minute home delivery.
Founder and owner of The Entertainer Gary Grant said: “This is a fantastic performance for the first half of the year and a testament to the strength of the business and the hard work of our teams.
“We are confident about carrying this momentum into the crucial second half of the year to make 2012 The Entertainer’s most successful year yet.
“Our strong performance has allowed us to announce that we’ll be opening a total of 15 stores this year, three more than our initial target of 12. In addition, three existing branches will be relocated in order to embrace the company’s latest shop design and branding.”
