The Entertainer opens in Dubai

The Entertainer has opened the doors of its first shop in Dubai.

The UK multichannel toy retailer held an exclusive opening ceremony to mark the firm's first store outside of the UK.

Founder and managing director of the family run business, Gary Grant, was joined by buying director Stuart Grant, and multichannel director Duncan Grant, as well as Her Majesty's Consul General to Dubai Edward Hobart for the grand opening on Wednesday, December 11th.

The public were welcomed to the new store on Thursday, December 12th while Friday, December 13th saw visitors joined by popular children's characters Ben 10, Hello Kitty, Laloopsy and Dora the Explorer.

Partnering with the Dubai based entail group Al Owais Enterprises to help bring the store to the region, The Entertainer Dubai is located in the Al Ghurair centre.

The toy firm has over 90 stores in the UK, with 14 opening this year.

Gary Grant said: "2013 has been an important year for The Entertainer, not only have we opened 14 new stores in the UK, we have expanded the brand internationally.

"I am thrilled to be in Dubai to officially open The entertainer Dubai and to also meet the families who are looking forward to experiencing the joy and wonder of our stores."

Her Majesty's Consul General in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, Edward Hobart, added: "I am delighted to see Dubai becoming home to an increasing number of premium British brands.

"As a customer of The Entertainer in the UK - on behalf of my children - I am really pleased that The Entertainer is coming here as its first venture outside of the UK which underlines the confidence British businesses have in this dynamic city."
