The Entertainer has been named Speciality Retailer of the Year at the 2015 Oracle Retail Week Awards.

The family-run toy chain was nominated in three categories at the annual ceremony, aimed at championing the leaders and innovators in high street and online retail.

The retailer was a finalist in Multichannel Retailer of the Year and Growth Retailer of the Year, but lost out to Argos and The Hut Group respectively at the event held at Grosvenor House in London.

However, the firm concluded its evening in high spirits as it was named Speciality Retailer of the Year, championed for in-store customer service and education, its charitable work and its community involvement.

“This was the award we really wanted to win, and it’s really testament to the teams in stores. The education advice they give to our customers is second to none in the industry, and it really sets us apart from our discounting competition,” said a spokesperson for The Entertainer at the event.

Founder of The Entertainer, Gary Grant, added: “It’s a real honour to be recognised by Retail Week and given such a prestigious accolade.”
