The Entertainer enjoys record sales results for 2015/16

In what it describes as a momentous perdiod, the multichannel retailer has seen a 39 per cent growth in online sales.

The Entertainer is celebrating its seventh consecutive year of growth having reached a pre-tax profit of £6.9 million for the financial year 2015/16.

While like-for-like sales remained broadly flat, the high street toy retailer has highlighted the achievement in maintaining sales levels against a 2014/15 that was driven by crazes including Loom Bands and Frozen.

On a two year basis, The Entertainer’s sales were up 11 per cent like for like, while the UK multichannel has added a further 18 new stores to its UK operations, as well as growing its overseas sites to six.

The retailer also saw an increase in margin, driven by more focused marketing promotions in-store and online.

The Entertainer saw an online sales growth of 39 per cent.

Meanwhile, the company’s policy of tithing its profits has resulted in donations of £750,000 in the 2015/16 period to charities that the retailer supports.

Founder and managing director of The Entertainer, Gary Grant, said: “I am delighted by this year’s results.

“2015/16 has been a momentous period for The Entertainer; achieving seven years of continuous growth in such a challenging market is a real testament to the drive and commitment of The Entertainer team.

“I want to acknowledge the enthusiasm and loyalty of our staff at all levels, as we look for every opportunity to expand both nationally and internationally.

“The Entertainer will continue to invest both in-store and online to enhance the customer experience. This year’s focus being customer personalization and the launch of our biggest ever TV advertising campaign.”
