Tesco will launch a second Hudl tablet device later this year, after the original passed the 500,000 unit sales mark.

The supermarket revealed its plans today in its 'preliminary results 2013/14' financial report, which shows that group trading profits fell six per cent year-on-year to £3.3 billion during the year ending February 22nd 2014.

Hudl launched in September 2013 and went on to sell 300,000 units by the start of December, and some 400,000 by January 2014.

"This [financial] year we launched the Hudl, our very own tablet," said Tesco in a statement. "It was recently named winner of the ‘ReThink Retail Technology Initiative of the Year’ and we plan to launch a second device later this year."
