Tesco to launch its own tablet this Christmas

Price speculated to be in the same region as Amazon's Kindle Fire at £130

Tesco is about to follow in the footsteps of Amazon and Apple by launching its own tablet device, reports The Sunday Times.

The 'iPad-like' device is expected to arrive this Christmas and come loaded with books, films and music as well as apps for Tesco's grocery and banking services and access to its film and music service Blinkbox.

The price of the tablet has not been decided, but Sunday Times sources claim it will be in the same region as Amazon's Kindle Fire at £130.

The product is said to be designed to halt the progress of tablet rivals Apple and Amazon, who have both dented Tesco's book and DVD sales over the last few years.
