In an exclusive deal between Hasbro and Tesco, this will be the first time Action Man has been available to buy on the High Street for over three years, with stocks of the toy last seen on shelves in 2005.

Tesco is stocking up on the toys as the count-down to Christmas begins and expects to sell thousands during the festive period.

The firm will be offering Action Man at prices starting from £5 for the Action Man Global Mission Action Figure, through to larger figures with accessories such as the Action Man Desert MTX (motor-cross bike) which is priced at £20 and includes an Action Man figure and desert MTX model with motor-rev sounds.

The full range will be available from Tesco Direct today and from Tesco Extra and selected superstores from tomorrow.

Action Man was originally discontinued in 1984, and brought back to life in 1993 with redesigned figures, such as Action Man Ninja Warrior, and Action Man Kongo Mission. It is these re-modeled figures that Tesco is bringing back for sale in the UK, with four figures on offer for customers.

Lucy Williams, director for toys at Tesco commented: “Action Man has an everlasting appeal, and we’re delighted to be able to bring it back to customers in the UK.

"And what’s more, because we know parents’ budgets are tighter than ever before this Christmas, we’ve worked hard to keep our prices for Action Man the same as they were when the toy was last available in 2005."
