Founder of the Slow Toy Movement, Thierry Bourret, said: "I am delighted with the 14 shortlisted toys, the judges have truly captured the essence of what these awards are all about and there is a great variety.

"I have a couple of favourites, but I think on the whole, deciding the final Slow Seven will be difficult. I am very excited to see what the outcome will be."

The Slow Seven will be announced in October with an award ceremony held in Harrods' Toy Kingdom. The winners will then be on sale in the department store throughout the Christmas period.

Bourret added: "Having the support of harrods this year has given the awards a great boost and I hope it allows the Slow toy message to travel even further."
