Sainsbury's is launching its Super Toy Sale, a week long promotion offering a collection of toys at half price, hoping to help save consumers £14.5 million on Christmas gifts this year.

The offer starts on Wednesday, October 23rd and will run until Tuesday, October 29th in more than 500 stores across the country.

Every toy will be included in the sale offering up to 50 per cent off, including brands such as Nerf, Barbie, Moshi Monsters, Fisher Price and Leapfrog.

Tom Folliot, buying manager for toys at Sainsbury's, said: "We know that Christmas can be an expensive time of year and budgets are stretched.

"We want to make it easier for our customers by giving them the opportunity to get hands on with some of this year's must have toys at great value.

"There is something for everyone - budding young bakers can kick start their career with the own brand Pretend & Play range whereas parents can feel nostalgic with the own brand wooden toy range.

"Kids can also enjoy the latest branded high-tech and character toys."

Each year 300 million toys are sold in the UK, with 15 million sold in Sainsbury's stores and 40 per cent of the 15 million are sold during the toy promotion.
