Retail staff below national average for happiness with work-life balance says new study

National average is 59 per cent, with retail coming in at 55 per cent.

New research carried out by specialist recruiter Randstad Technologies has found that retail staff are among the least happy when it comes to their work-life balance.

The survey of 2,000 employees found that retail staff came in with 55 per cent being happy with their work-life balance, below the national average of 59 per cent.

It also found that retail staff have average gross weekly earnings of £397.30 and work an average of 30 hours and 34 minutes a week.

Those working in the utilities (94 per cent), insurance (90 per cent), property (88 per cent) and leisure (80 per cent) industries came out top for happiness with their work-life balance.
