Record Christmas sales for The Entertainer

Festive like-for-like sales up 9.5 per cent on 2011.

The Entertainer has enjoyed another record Christmas, recording a like-for-like sales increase of 9.5 per cent in the five weeks to December 29th.

The specialist toy chain told Retail Week that it maintained margins as total sales boomed by 21 per cent.

Broken down, store sales rose 7.6 per cent while online boosted its sales performance by 17.7 per cent.

Gary Grant said he was extremely pleased with the results. He commented:“We expect to see significant year-on-year profit growth.”

Grant also told Retail Week he was in the process of selecting the retailer's first two overseas franchise stores.

In the 48 weeks to December 29th total sales went up 23.4 per cent, while like-for-like, sales were up 9.3 per cent.

In Christmas 2011 The Entertainer grew its total sales by 28.8 per cent.
