It may be time to dig out you're old toy boxes, as rare, original Polly Pocket toys are appearing on eBay, listed for prices as high as £7000.

The toys, which went out of production in 2015, are now being sought after by collectors, however, it should be noted that the highest priced items have not been sold, only listed for sale at high prices on the online marketplace.

Prices for rare sets mostly range from about £100 to £1000, with collectors in the UK and Australia on the hunt for bargains.

Unopened sets such as the 2002 Swim Party, Peter Pan and Aladdin sets are fetching the highest prices, with earlier dolls also generating interest before the line was redesigned by Mattel in 1998.

eBay even has a guide to help collectors in finding rare Polly Pockets sets, outlining advice such as "The doll's finish should be smooth, without chips or fading. Check the case for cracks and the interior for damage."

"Polly Pocket dolls may or may not increase in value in the coming years," adds the guide. "The motivating factor behind collecting these items should not be the value of the items in time."
