Pop culture retailer GameStop ups its sustainability game through Power to the Planer initiative

The retail destination for collectables, trading cards, Funko figures, stylised plush as well as consoles and video games is rolling out LED lighting to GameStop stores across its global fleet throughout the year.

Collectables and pop culture specialist retailer, GameStop is continuing it mission to highlight sustainability in the retail space with the latest step in its Power to the Planet initiative.

The retail destination for collectables, trading cards, Funko figures, stylised plush as well as consoles and video games is rolling out LED lighting to GameStop stores across its global fleet throughout the year.

This will generate enough energy savings annually, the company has said, to power 859 homes for an entire year.

‘In 2017 we launched a store facing sustainability programme, Power to the Planet that drove significant changes to store consumption behaviour and promoted awareness of GameStop’s sustainability goals,’ reads a statement from the firm.

‘Since launching Power the Planet, GameStop has reduced overall domestic emissions by 13 per cent. Our progress to date in this area has given us the confidence to explore the possibility of whether, in line with the global shift to a low carbon economy, Game Stop could be a carbon neutral company by the mid-century.’
