"There was so much energy and buzz on the day, the kids loved running about and testing the new toys," said Peter Jenkinson, owner of Toyology.tv. "We're already eyeing a summer-based event focusing on outdoor toys for kids and families.

"A few people raised their eyebrows when we mentioned this as it involves even more kids, but we think there needs to be more emphasis on the importance of outdoor play."

After the event, everyone left with a post-party goodie bag, with some of the tested toys donated to Demelza Hospice Care for Children.

Dryden Geary, marketing manager at Smyths Toys Superstores, commented: "We're delighted to have been able to work with Toyology on making the Outdoor Toy Awards such a success. All products were very worthy winners and it's a great opportunity to have been able to put an emphasis back on outdoor play."
