John Lewis weekly sales break £100m barrier

John Lewis weekly sales have cracked the £100 million barrier for the first time this year, matching the 2013 record for the earliest week to have reached the milestone.

This week saw sales of £108.8 million, with sales up 7.2 per cent on last year and 13.7 per cent week on week.

Online sales were up by 15 per cent year on year.

In-store, John Lewis' Countdown to Christmas event drove footfall to branches, with stand out performances from Newbury (+21%), Chichester (+20.3%), Poole (+19.6%) and Tunbridge Wells (+13.5%), along with two of its more recent store openings in Exeter (+19%) and Stratford (+12.5%).
