In July, UK High Street sales grew 2.6 per cent when compared to the equivalent period last year, according to the BDO.
It's an improvement on June’s High Street figures, where the BRC reported a 0.6 per cent decline.
Non-store retail, which includes internet, catalogue and TV shopping channel purchases, grew 39.9 per cent.
Overall like-for-like growth for June was 3.3 per cent in week one, 2.1 per cent in week two, 3.2 per cent in week three and 1.8 per cent in week four.
The BDO said that cold weather helped support demand across retail, "but trading conditions were generally tougher."
