Hamleys is preparing to open the biggest toy store in Europe in Moscow this year.
The new store will cover an impressive 72,600 square feet over two floors at the Central Children’s Store building on Moscow’s Lubyanka Square.
Measuring up at almost one and a half times the size of its flagship Regent Street store in London, the new Hamleys is also lined up to take the accolade of the biggest toy shop in the world by 2016.
Retail Week reports that Toys R Us is thought to be closing or downsizing its 110,000 square foot Times Square store by January 2016.
Hamleys already has four stores n the Russian territory, including two in Moscow, one in Krasnodar and one in St. Petersburg.
The toy retailer now plans to have have six stores in Russia by the end of the year, according to Hamleys’ head of marketing and web, Mark Drummond.
