HAMLEYS: Retailer eyes Manchester

Iconic retailer seeks potential sites in Manchester for standalone store, according to a report.

Hamleys has placed requirements for 40,000 square feet within the city centre’s retail core, according to a report in Crain’s Manchester Business, following the success of its concession at House of Fraser on Deansgate.

However, the project is subject to the retailer finding the right location, and as yet no decision has been made.

The retailer opened its first outlet in England’s north west in December 2006, with a small outlet at Manchester Airport, followed by other concessions in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Birmingham.

It has since been on a mission to roll out stores, both nationally and internationally, with the latest one announced to open in the Republic of Ireland in October.
