UK store Grasshopper Toys has acquired the online science shop Curious Minds.

Grasshopper Toys, based in Helensburgh, Scotland, has a focus on science toys and has won a number of distribution deals with some of the world’s biggest manufacturers of scientific toys.

Curious Minds is an international online science toy shop, featuring a wide range of science, nature, space and technology products.

The online store will now become the science arm of Grasshopper Toys, offering 'sophisticated products' while Grasshopper will continue to sell fun and educational toys.

“This is an incredibly exciting time for the company," Wendy Hamilton, founder of Grasshopper Toys.

"Curious Minds is a wonderful toy shop that I have admired for some time as the founders share a similar ethos to play and science as I do.

"When the chance came for us to buy it, it became apparent that it was the perfect move for us as a business. We have revamped the website to fit in with our image and to make it more user friendly and welcoming.

“Curious Minds will now be the science arm of our company and we will concentrate on building this brand even further. I’m delighted to be the next generation of Curious Minds and look forward to discovering first class toys for children of all ages to enjoy.”

Mind the gap

It's great to see the toy category expanding in retailers such as Lidl and Waterstones outside of the traditional Christmas run in.
