Grasshopper Toys has become the exclusive UK distributor of the dinosaur and fossil Geoworld models.
The company – based in Helensburgh, Scotland – was founded two years ago by scientist Dr Wendy Hamilton.
Grasshopper already has a number of distribution deals in place with manufacturers of scientific toys including Elemento and Science & Nature. It recently moved to a larger warehouse premises and is looking to recruit additional sales agents across the UK.
Hamilton said: “We are very excited and proud to be the sole UK distributor for Geoworld. It is a company we greatly admire and its collection of amazingly detailed replicas and scientifically faithful skeletons are already a hit with our sons, so we know they will be extremely popular with children and adults alike.
“One of the most appealing aspects of Geoworld’s products for me especially, is that they are all designed by paleontologists. This means they are accurate in the detail and scale of each species, meaning that whilst children are playing with a very lovely and fun toy, they are also learning.
“The products we are currently selling such as the Excavation Kit range that includes Velociraptors, Triceratops, Sabre Tooth Tiger and Mammoth, involve digging up and piecing together the remains of these pre-historic mammals, enough to satisfy every child’s interest in dinosaurs and perhaps even trigger an early interest in becoming a paleontologist or geologist.
“At Grasshopper Toys we are delighted with the progress we’ve made as a company and we hope to continue our success in bringing science toys to more households and schools. We want to demonstrate that science is fun and our toys are the perfect mix to entertain and educate children.”
Grasshopper Toys is a family-run business with customers around the world including the UK, US, Europe, Singapore, Australia and South Africa.
