Owners Roy and Pauline Ringer have signed a lease to open a store on London Road in the town. The store will be managed by their daughter Lisa Strudwick, who helped run the Horsham branch.

The family previously had a shop in Bognor, run by Pauline's grandparents, which closed in 1982.

The Horsham branch was at the centre of the recent TRA resignation controversy, after Toymaster contested that TRA chairman Gary Grant's planned opening of an Entertainer store in the town represented a conflict of interest, since it would be a "death knell" for Goodacres.

Although the Entertainer has opened in competition with Toymaster stores previously, the buying group objected because it was a solus independent and not a multi-store chain.

The disagreement lead to Grant bringing forward the announcement of his planned resignation as chairman.
