Online toy retailer, Firebox is confident that its Star Wars: The Force Awakens BB-8 Sphero will top Christmas lists this year.

The Star Wars BB-8 Droid inspired drone with the ability to communicate via holographic interaction, is among the first products to be unveiled on Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Force Friday.

The firm has stated that Sphero’s new Star Wars inspired droid is ‘one of the most exciting toys ever to be unveiled,’ owing to its authentic movements and personality.

The new smartphone, tablet or voice controlled Sphero BB-8 Droid even allows fans to create and view their own holographic recordings, projecting images on a range of surfaces.

Sphero’s BB-8 Droid is available at Firebox.com for £129.99.

Ben Rehead, head of buying at Firebox, said: “In the same way that The Force Awakens is comfortably the most eagerly-anticipated film release of 2015, Sphero’s BB-8 is without question one of the most exciting toys ever to be unveiled and is nothing short of a must have for lovers of the Star Wars saga.

“Sure to be at the top of Christmas lists the world over this year, the mind-boggling amount of features packed into BB-8 is nothing short of remarkable and will keep proud owners entertained for hours.

“With once far-fetched, futuristic dreams of holographic communication, autonomous behavior and voice command capabilities all realised within Sphero’s BB-8, we’re convinced this is the Droid Star wars fans everywhere have been looking for.”
