Entries for Toy Shop UK’s fourth annual Independent Toy Awards – the awards where over 900 independent retailers vote for the winners – are now open.

There are fifteen toy category awards up for grabs, as well as the coveted Most Popular Supplier award, which was won by Bigjigs last year.

All entries will receive a logo – Gold, Silver or Bronze - designed for use on packaging, catalogues and other media.

Michael Hawkins, editor of Toy Shop UK, said: “The toy industry is awash with toy awards - some of which are, let’s just say, more cynical that others – and we wanted to do something that couldn’t be mimicked.

“Our links with the nation’s independent toy retailers gives our awards a unique slant that’s only achieved by letting those on the sharp end of the industry have a say.”

The 2012 Independent Toy Award categories are:

Games & Puzzles
Role Play

Toy companies have until August 29th to enter their products into any of the 15 categories; each of which is limited to a maximum of just ten products. Supppliers may submit as many of their toys as they like (each entry costs £99). Go here to enter.

The winners will be revealed on September 17th (when there is 99 days left until Christmas).
