Dragon's Den pitch boosts Firebox sales

Sales of The Magic Wand increased 40-fold on the site following its appearance on the BBC2 TV show.

The pitch from entrepreneurs Chris Barnardo and Richard Blakesley at The Wand Company resulted in offers from all five of the millionaire Dragons and a £200,000 investment from Duncan Bannatyne.

Thousands of viewers logged onto the Firebox.com website during the show and the Wand sold out within hours of the broadcast.

Christian Robinson, managing director of Firebox.com commented: “We have seen a definite Dragons’ Den effect on numerous products that we’ve sold in the past, including the Trunki, Yoodoo Dolls and Road Refresher Dog Bowls.

"The Magic Wand is an innovative, quirky product which was one of our top sellers after its launch on Firebox.com last Christmas. With the extra boost of such fantastic TV exposure, we were prepared for for the product to fly off the shelves and have more stock coming in to satisfy the demand.”

Chris and Richard hinted at another magical product to be added to their range during their pitch on Dragons’ Den.

The product will be unveiled on Firebox.com at the online retailer’s press event on September 15th in central London.
