Sales of Esdevium's Dobble game are soaring at one indie toy retailer thanks to strong word of mouth support.

Wise Owl Toys in Worcester has sold more than 1,700 units of Dobble - the most for any UK toy indie.

In-store demonstrations of the game have helped it flourish without the need for TV advertising.

"Dobble has been our highlight of the year," Wise Owl Toys store manager Mark Stewart told ToyNews.

"We've sold the most in the country. We've been stocking it since April last year and have sold over 1,700 since. Using our Facebook page, we are selling Dobble around the world.

"Customers don’t truly appreciate Dobble until it's been demonstrated to them. It's very simple and there's five different ways you can play it."

Esdevium Games marketing executive Ben Hogg added: "Dobble is a fantastic game that is perfect for demonstrating in-store.

"The sales Wise Owl Toys have seen are extraordinary, particularly when you consider Dobble has no TV advertising, but rather relies on demonstrations, reviews and word of mouth.

"When people see Dobble, they love it and we are very fortunate to have a game with such a wide appeal."

Esdevium will also be exhibiting Dobble as part of its range at Toy Fair (stand E109).
