Some of the biggest names in toy retail are gearing up for an onslaught of sci-fi fans, as the UK and Ireland prepares for this year’s ‘Force Friday’.

The day itself – ear marked for September 4th – will be remembered by kids and older fans alike as the day the world witnesses the grand launch of the first Star Wars: The Force Awakens merchandise.

Toys, collectables, gadgets, apparel and more will officially hit shelves in just one week’s time, launcing at Disney Stores and other retailers across the UK and Ireland at 00.01 on September 4th.

To celebrate the launch, numerous retailers across the country are inviting Star Wars fans to line up outside their doors to count down to the big reveal, including Disney Store, Toy R Us, Smyths, Forbidden Planet and more.

A flagship event will be held at the Oxford Street Disney Store in London, where Star Wars fanatics turning up in fancy dress can commence lining the pavement from 20.00 on Thursday, September 3rd, with giveaways leading up to midnight.

At the stroke of one minute past midnight, the Disney Store will open its doors to fans, allowing them to experience a line up of Star Wars: The Force Awakens merchandise, described by the firm as nothing short of ‘galactic’.

Disney Store will also host an in-store competition and product demos.

Toys stores will also be hosting various celebrations, including Jedi Training experiences for kids visiting Disney’s Oxford Street and Dublin’s Grafton Street store.

Meanwhile, Toys R Us will give the first visitors to its Brent Cross, Bristol, Glasgow Helen Street, Oldbury and Warrington stores a limited edition poster among other giveaways.

Smyths stores across 16 locations including West Midlands, Shropshire, Watford, Liverpool, Leeds, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Belfast and more will give the first 50 fans in line a free poster.

Forbidden Planet will host an event described only as ‘London Megastore midnight madness’.

For fans to whom waiting for the launch of Force Friday is too much, will be offered a sneak peek of highlights from the Star Wars: The Force Awakens product collection in a live global YouTube unboxing event on the Star Wars YouTube channel.
