Argos toy brand wins Product Innovation of the Year at the prestigious High Street awards event.

Argos own-brand Chad Valley has been named as Product Innovation of the Year at the Oracle Retail Week Awards 2012.

“It’s great to see the revival of such a strong British brand offering quality and good value,” said Retail Week deputy editor George McDonald.

“Today’s toy market is a lucrative business and the reinvention of Chad Valley appears to fitting well with consumer demand through its increase in market share and profitability.”

The brand was refreshed last year, with new products including ‘Design a Bear’ and ‘Design a Friend’. The brand currently offers more than 300 toys and apparel.

To support the launch Argos developed a Facebook community for mums to trade tips on present buying and gifting.

Plans for 2012 include the development of a clothing range as well as an extended range of outdoor toys.

Hobbycraft’s Catriona Marshall also picked up an award for Emerging Retail Leader of the Year.
