Asda is major player in World Cup 2010

Supermarket signs deal to sell official merchandise for next summer's tournament.

Asda's parent company, Wal-Mart, has struck an exclusive deal with FIFA to sell official merchandise for next year's World Cup tournament.

Wal-Mart will work with Global Brands Group to create 2010 FIFA World Cup Official Event stores in all the markets it operates in around the world.

The branded shops inside selected Asda outlets will sell a wide range of product including footballs, t-shirts, hats and bags.
