Argos searches for Toy of the Future

Argos launches competition for young designers to submit ideas for a future toy superstar.

The new competition gives kids the chance to design their own perfect toy and the winner will see their idea developed and sold in stores across the UK in time for Christmas 2009.

Entrants are invited to visit and upload a picture of their idea with a short description explaining how it works and why it should be a future star.

A panel of expert judges will then pick a shortlist of ten and the public will vote for the winner.

The competition is open from October 29th to December 1st and the shortlist revealed on December 10th. The public can vote from December 10th to 24th with the winner being revealed in January.

The winner will also receive £500 Argos vouchers to expand their own toy collection. The shortlisted runners-up will each receive their pick of a toy from the Argos catalogue, up to the value of £50.

Graham Barnes, trading director for toys at Argos and one of the judges said:

“We have been selling toys to the nation for 35 years this year and now we’re giving the real experts – the kids that play with them – the chance to help us find a new top toy for the future.”

A poll by Argos has revealed the nation?s favourite toys and the store has predicted its 2008 Christmas bestsellers.
