The retailer held a special open event for toy inventors and suppliers at Kent’s Hill Conference Centre, giving them the chance to present their ideas to the toy buying team at Argos.

Ian Chaplin, Argos trading manager said: "When we invited inventors and small suppliers of children's toys to pitch their product ideas at our open day, we expected a good response. After all, it's not everyday they get the opportunity to pitch up to five product ideas to the senior Argos Toys team, and to receive commercial advice for free.

"In fact, the response was so great that we brought in an extra buying team and extended the open day by two hours to ensure we could see everyone who wanted to come".

The event gave hopefuls the chance to show up to five ideas, and get expert feedback and commercial advice from the Argos toy team.

The team will be reviewing all the ideas and inviting the best ones back to the head office in Milton Keynes in the next month for follow-up meetings. The successful toy items will be included in the Argos January 2011 catalogue.
