Amazon is planning to open more physical stores in the future, according to the company’s CEO Jeff Bezos.

Bezos revealed the news at the online retailer’s annual shareholder meeting on Tuesday, however, he did not reveal when or where the shops would open.

So far Amazon has opened one bricks-and-mortar store in the US in Seattle, and has already begun to build its second store based in San Diego.

Bezos said: “We’re definitely going to open additional stores, how many we don’t know yet,” reports the BBC.

"In these early days it’s all about learning, rather than trying to earn a lot of revenue."

Bezos also promised to add new benefits to the firm’s Prime service, but did not reveal any details of these plans during the meeting. According to reports though, the company is allegedly planning to launch its own food label and home products.

"Our goal with Amazon Prime, is to make sure that if you are not a Prime member, you are being irresponsible," added Bezos.
