Amazon has taken a new step towards traditional retail with reports the online giant is publishing its first Christmas catalogue this year.
People familiar with Amazon’s plans told Bloomberg that the Seattle-based online company is thinking of publishing a holiday toy catalogue, swooping in on the gap left by Toys R Us.
It’s been said that Amazon has plans to distribute the guide by sending them to households across the US as well as hand outs at Whole Foods Market locations.
This is the latest in Amazon’s move towards traditional retailing, supplementing the loss of Toys R Us’ Big Book toy catalogue – a guide of more than 100 pages of toys and ads.
Amazon reportedly also considered acquiring a number of Toys R Us sites earlier this year after buying Whole Foods for $13.7 billion.
Amazon has so far declined to comment on the reports.
