AMAZON: Guidelines set for Christmas toy selling

Sellers in the toys and games category will need to meet standards in the retailer's Christmas Selling Guidelines.
Publish date:

The guidelines prevent new sellers joining the online retailer from September 12th.

From November 17th, sellers that do not meet a number of criteria will be unable to sell toys again until January 5th 2009.

To cash in on the festive period, a seller’s first sale must occur before September 19th. The seller must also have processed and shipped at least 25 orders by October 18th.

Finally, anybody wishing to sell toys and games must have no greater than one per cent defect rate. Order defects will be evaluated for orders placed between July 6th and October 4th.

Amazon said: “Customers have high expectations for purchases during the festive season. We want to ensure that our sellers in toys and games provide high quality customer experience and that all orders are fulfilled and delivered in a manner that meets or exceeds our customers’ expectations.”

Starting on November 17th, the retailer will be monitoring the performance and listings of all merchants approved to sell in the toys and games category.
