Israel-based startup Akibabus has launched a new game that combines digital and offline play patterns, called BoxiTale.

The game’s story-based experience is streamed on a tablet or smartphone while players follow along to build and design challenges on a traditional tabletop board game.

Once the players’ design is ready, they can upload photo of the board into the BoxiTale app, where it will be reflected in the rest of the story.

Current Boxitale stories include Knights of Nature and Elite Explorers, as well as Mini Stories. Additional stories are available through in-app purchases, with new ones set to launch in 2019.

Aimed at kids aged seven and upwards, BoxiTale is designed to improve cognitive skills, hand-eye coordination and creative thinking. In addition to being sold on Amazon, the product is available for global retail distribution through Publishers Services.
