A ten year old LEGO fanatic has devised a way to turn his passion for plastic into gold, with the launch of a monthly construction toy subscription platform, Brick Loot.

Parker Krex first struck upon the idea when he noticed the growing popularity of toy subscription boxes across the US, but nothing to cater for the LEGO fans.

The young entrepreneur decided to take it upon himself to launch the monthly service to bring LEGO compatible building sets and accessories to people’s doors, and soon had convinced his parents to join the business venture.

Today, Brick Loot works with various names in the construction toy sector, including NanoBlocks, United Bricks and Oyo and is already in talks with shipping companies to take the business worldwide.

“The subscription model really has gained traction in the last three years,” Krex’s business partner and mother, Erin Krex, told ToyNews. “We launched our first box in December 2014, and reaction has been excellent.

“People love finding out about new products and they had no idea so many things could be used with LEGO as well as other great brick brands.”

In just three months, Brick Loot has amassed a following of over 20,000 Facebook fans, who it keeps updated with the latest brick news, events and contests.

While his parents play a hand in forming the relationships with various toy brick companies, it is Parker’s passion for innovative toys that drives the business forward.

“I love doing research and finding new things I think people will like,” he said. “I show them to our team and then they make the connections. I am looking for great products and great companies to partner with.”

Now in its third month, the Brick Loot team reports that the initiative is growing rapidly.

“Our subscriber base is growing fast,” said Erin Krex. “We are working with shipping companies to bring Brick Loot worldwide by the end of 2015.”
