A campaign to launch the first live streaming paper aeroplane drone has smashed its Kickstarter goal of $100,000 in just four hours.

PowerUp Toys took to the crowd-funding site on November 10th 2015 in order to raise funds to further develop the app-controlled paper drone, but in a matter of hours had surpassed its goal to reach its current $187,000 total.

Developed in partnership with drone specialists Parrot, the new device is designed to create a first-person viewing experience, letting pilots discover ‘what it’s like to sit in the cockpit of a paper aeroplane, directly on their smartphone.’

The drone is also compatible with the Google Cardboard headset.

“We are working hard to make this a reality and we are thrilled with the response we have received from our backers,” said Shai Goiten, CEO of PowerUp Toys.

“Our backers have proven to us that the idea to put a live video camera on a paper aeroplane is amazing. Moreover, people are excited to fulfill a childhood dream of flying through the air, riding on a paper aeroplane.”

With a top speed of 20mph and ten minutes of continuous flight time, the new drone features a rotating wide-view camera. Connecting via WiFi, users can watch the video or wireless transfer it to their smartphones and upload it to YouTube, Facebook, Twitter or other video sharing services for mobiles.

With 57 days still remaining on Kickstarter, the project will be successfully funded on Saturday, January 9th 2016.
