Goliath firms up outdoor market presence with Tucker acquisition

Goliath has made a move to strengthen its presence in the outdoor toy market with the acquisition of the specialist toymaker, Tucker.

The numbers involved in the deal have not been disclosed but it arrives as Goliath highlights the ‘potential it sees for itself in the outdoor toys and games market.’

Established in 2001, Tucker found success in the sports toy category with lines such as the Phlat Ball – an item that has sold over 23 million in close to 60 countries.

“After our most recent acquisition of Britz ‘n’ Pieces in Australia, Tucker is a great fit. We see an enormous potential in outdoor games and toys and by combining this with our successful ranges of Wahu, trampolines, Rocket Fishing Rod and more, we have firmly established our position as a market leader in the category,” said Adi Golad, founder of Goliath.

Going forward, Tucker will operate as a centre of ideation and R&D within Goliath to create fun and innovative new products.

“When Adi approached us last year to explore possible synergies, we started talking and it resulted in a real win-win,” added Mike Goldman, founder and president of Tucker.

“We at Tucker can focus n what we do best, creating innovative product for all to enjoy. All international distributor agreements will remain in effect and retailers will continue to be serviced by their existing distributors.

“We will make the ownership change seamless to both our distributor and retail partners.”

Goliath has seen substantial growth in recent years with the acquisitions of Pressman Toys and Jax in the US, Crown and Andrews and Britz ‘n Pieces in Australia, Modelco in France and Elephanta in New Zealand.
