India is on its way to becoming the next manufacturing hub, Ernst Kick, CEO of Spielwarenmesse has suggested amid reports that the B2B trade show, Kids India has seen a vast uptick in international attendees in the last year.
Kick has highlighted the constant improvement in the quality of products to emerge from the market coupled with the rise in international attention as indicators of the market’s growing position within the global toy market.
Reports emerging from the the sixth Kids India suggest that the B2B trade fair is increasing its international standing, with more than 5,300 trade visitors attending its 2018 event.
The show welcomed around 106 top buyers from 29 different countries as it opened its doors at the Bombay Convention & Exhibition Center in Mumbai this September 4th to 6th.
The toy, children’s products and sports goods fair also attracted 160 manufacturers and suppliers, showing more than 300 brands. The event itself is organised by Spielwarenmesse India, a subsidiary owned by Spielwarenmesse and is supported by All India Toy Manufacturers Association and the Sports Goods Export Promotion Council.
The success of this year’s show was fuelled by a diverse mix of leading international brands.

Highlights of this year’s show included the special areas Sports Arena, TrendingNow and the Back to School Pavilion. The Trending Pavilion showcased the two main trends in India for the coming trading year: Express Yourself products that stimulate creativity and Tech Toys for technological toys.
As well as visitors from across India, Kids India also attracted interest from Australia, Austria, Denmark, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Thailand, the UK and the United Arab Emirates.
Janotta concluded: “Kids India is determined to contribute sustainably to raising awareness among parents and the industry of the important role that toys play in a child’s development.
“This commitment is reflected in our initiatives to improve visitor and exhibitor quality, in our special areas and the focal topics in our seminar programme.”
